Goal: Stop (or allow) USB ports from providing power after shutdown.
1. Check BIOS/UEFI
Restart → press
Del/F2/Escat boot.Find settings like:
USB Charging in Off Mode
ErP Ready / ErP Support
USB Power Delivery in Soft Off State
Disable to cut power when off.
Save & exit.
2. Windows Device ManagerWindows + X→ Device Manager.Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Right-click USB Root Hub → Properties.
Power Management tab → check Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
3. Disable Fast StartupWindows + R→control powercfg.cpl.Choose what the power buttons do.
Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Uncheck Turn on fast startup → Save.
4. Physical SwitchUse a USB on/off adapter or smart power strip for a guaranteed cutoff.
Tip: If you still want charging on some ports, check your motherboard manual — many let you pick specific ports to keep active.
